Agios Andreas : You can visit the 12th century Byzantine church, which is built on the ruins of the temple of Apollo.

 

Koroni : The famous Venetian castle dominates over the hill and is a typical example of Venetian architecture. Many people are still living within the castle today among the ruins,  with gardens full of fruit trees, vegetables and olives. You can also attend the classical music festival held every summer.

 

Methoni : Here you can admire the famous castle, which extends up through the sea,  it is very large in size and the entire old city was within the castle and it has maintained quite well. It's also worth visiting the Catacombs of St. Onoufrios, 2km north of Methoni, carved into the rock that formed the very old cemetery. Quite near is the Church of St. Basil, on the Pylos – Methoni road, which dates to the 10th century AD.


Πύλος : Here one has many attractions to visit. Let's start with Niokastro, the Frankish castle. The area is dominated by the Church of the Metamorfosi of the Savior, which during the Othoman occupation was a Turkish mosque. Nearby you will find the famous beach Voidokilia.


Trivia: High above the cliff you can see the cave of Nestor – here, according to legend, Hermes hid the cattle he stole from his brother Apollo. When Apollo discovered the cows, Hermes to atone gave his brother a lyre made ​​from the shell of a sea turtle that still lay their eggs on the bay of Voidokilia. On the road Chora- Pylos, 15km from Pylos, on the hill of Ano Englianos beside the road, lies the palace of Nestor, with excellent views over the bay of Navarino and Voidokilia.

 


Polylimnio : Within a few kilometers from the main road Kalamata - Pylos you can find Polylimnio, hidden in a ravine. It consists of successive ponds/small lakes that are interconnected to small waterfalls.


Arcaelogical site of Ancient Messini : One of the most well hidden secrets of the Peloponnese. You should not miss visiting this site which once the excavation is completed, will be one of the largest, if not the largest in size archeological site. It is worthwhile spending a whole day for a visit or a night if you want to attend a concert at the restored stadium.



Kalamata : Visit the castle. The castle of "Queen Izampo" as Angelos Terzakis said. Built in the early 13 th century by Geoffrey Villehardouin. Here, in 1218, was born the son of William. During the Venetian period the castle was extended and repaired repeatedly. It was then that in the main gate the lion os St. Mark was added, a characteristic emblem of Venice.
